The Shaw Temple Church Deaconess Board is appointed by the Pastor to encourage, foster, and improve the general church through their ministry.  The appointment to deaconess is a consecrated office.  The deaconesses minister to the poor, visit the sick, pray with the dying, comfort the bereaved, minister to the unsaved, and attend to whatever duties that are required for the benefit of the church as assigned.  Additionally, these spiritual women prepare the elements for and assist with Holy Communion and prepare candidates for baptism.

Mission

The mission of the Shaw Temple Deaconess Board is to serve Jesus by serving others through prayer, visitation, comfort, encouragement, and other ministering needs as identified by the Pastor.  The Deaconess Board works to make the experience of communion and baptism sacred through the preparation of the elements for communion and assistance to members for baptism.
