The Media Outreach Ministry, formerly known as The Sound Ministry and renamed in 2004 by Pastor Crenshaw, provides sound and lighting as well as recording of all Shaw Temple services and events. CDs are available online, in the Bookstore, and around the church directly following services.

In the past two years the ministry has purchased a lot of new equipment including the Pastor’s cordless microphone and new Media Crew T Shirts. We thanked all the members of Shaw, who have supported the ministry by purchasing CDs.

More than $2750 in proceeds from the of sale of CDs has been donated in support of other ministries including Mortgage Liquidation, The TV Ministry, The Learning Center Playground, the Bookstore, Katrina Relief, The Men’s Retreat, Friends and Family 2007 and the first annual Media Outreach Media Scholarship, which went to one of our first youth members, Derrick Johnson. DJ will be attending Southern Poly in the Fall and has been running the soundboard by himself for over a year now. His presence has drawn many new youth members.

Ali Nkhazi is the director of 8am service, Reginald McKie, Vice Chair, is the director of 11am service and Jarod Mattison is the director of Bible Study. They each oversee a team of at least 3-4 members, making the schedule and providing the sounds and lighting.

AJ Woodson, the Chairman since November 2005, has been taking the ministry to the next level and building on the foundation laid down by the former chairman Bertram Jones. In the upcoming months you will see several changes and upgrades in the sound and lighting and recruitment of new members who will be fully trained by professional sound people. The Media Outreach Ministry will also be working closely with the newly formed ‘Catch The Vision’ TV Ministry to provide a quality product for Shaw Temple.
